What is a Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) Calculator?
A Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) calculator is a tool used to measure how body fat is distributed by comparing your waist and hip measurements. A higher WHR means more fat is stored around the waist (often called an “apple” shape), which is associated with a higher risk of health conditions such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. A lower WHR indicates more fat stored around the hips and thighs (a “pear” shape). This calculator quickly determines your WHR and provides an estimated risk level based on World Health Organization guidelines.
How to Use This Tool
- Select Units and Gender: Choose your preferred measurement unit (cm or in) and select your gender.
- Enter Measurements: Input your waist circumference (measured at the narrowest point, usually above the navel) and your hip circumference (measured at the widest part of your hips).
- Review Your Results: The calculator will instantly display your Waist-to-Hip Ratio, your estimated health risk level (Low, Moderate, or High), and your body shape category.
